Past continuos VS Simple past



Past Continuous

* Subj. + verb to be in past + gerun-ing + C.

Ex- We were playing the violin
I was listening the the music fo 40

I was
You were
He/she was
It was
we were
You were
They were


Ex- I were studying when she called.
Where you studying when she callesd?
You were not studying when she called.

Simple past

[Verb + ed] or irregular verbs

Ex- You called Paula
Did you call Paula
You did not call Paula

*Use the Simple Past to express the idea that an action started and finished at a specific time in the past.

Affirmative Negative Interrogative

-I stayed -I did not stay -Did I stay?
-You stayed -You did not stay -Did you stay?
-He stayed -He did not stay -Did he stay?
-It stayed It did not stay Did it stay?
-We stayed -We did not stay -Did we stay?
-You stayed -You did not stay -Did you stay?
-They stayed -They did not stay -Did they stay?
